  hereinstead.com: krugman

I have stopped posting notable Krugman pieces because, mercifully, some of what he alone used to say is now being said by others. Also, all of his NY Times columns and much more are available at the very good "Unofficial Paul Krugman Website" -- and a link to it is at the bottom of this page.

However, a few of his classics are below.

"The Real Man" -- Feb 13, 2004
To understand why questions about George Bush's time in the National Guard are legitimate, all you have to do is look at the federal budget published last week. No, not the lies, damned lies and statistics — the pictures.

"I do get rattled" (by death threats) Sept 19, 2003 in the Guardian,
"There's this fundamental unwillingness to acknowledge the radicalism of the threat we're facing (from the right-wingers in power)." A Guardian (UK) article & interview in which Krugman offers an interesting explanation of why so few other mainstream columnists repeatedly report the Bushies lies.

"The Road to Ruin" -- August 19, 2003
What caused the biggest power blackout in American history? "Faith-based deregulation."

"Duped and Betrayed' -- June 6, 2003
Conservatives: the people formerly known as the "radical right." Moderates: the people formerly known as "conservatives."

"Standard Operating Procedure" -- June 3, 2003
Lies, lies, lies. Lies about weapons of mass destruction. Lies about Bush's tax cuts. All lies, all the time.

"Conquest and Neglect" -- April 11, 2003
There is a pattern to the Bush administration's way of doing business that does not bode well for the future — a pattern of conquest followed by malign neglect.

"A Touch of Class" - Jan 21, 2003
A liberal and a conservative were sitting in a bar. Then Bill Gates walked in...

"For Richer" -- Oct 20, 2002 NYTimes Magazine
Krugman on the return of plutocracy (government by the wealthy)

Springtime for Hitler - Oct 18, 2002
Telling the truth about the Bush administration's tax cut and lies about it.

A System Corrupted - Jan 18, 2002
Eron and the non-regulation of big business

the joys of editing, April 2000
From Krugman's own web site. Paul shows us that ANYBODY can get messed with by an editor.
